was quite badly hurt by a fall from
a step ladder while picking fruit at
his homo in Coquille yesterday. No
bones were broken -but ho was sever
ely shaken up and bruised.
Draft New Charter. Mayor E. H.
Straw and City Attorney Farrin are
spending considerable tlmo studying
up municipal charters with a view
of drafting a now one to bo adopted
by tho city of Marshfleld in the near
future.

tho first birthday of Mnstor Robert
Montgomery, son of Mr. and Mrs.
J. Montgomery. Ho wns tho reci

Tyler who was formerly captain of
the Arago when that vessel was en
gaged in tho survey of Coos Bay has
quit tho sea and Is now running a
music and sewing machine agency at
Newport. Ho writes friends that ho
Is doing well.
School Starts Monday. Tho
Marshfleld public schools will open
next Monday. With tho exception of
tho third grado B, last year's corps
of teachers will havo charge. As
yet, it has not been decided who shall
bo given tho third grade B as there
aro a number of applications for tho
position.
Subscriptions For "Work. Dr.
Tower stated this morning that al
though subscriptions were coming a
little slow, ho was practically cer
tain that sufficient would bo secured
to maintain tho Chamber of Com
merce another year. Ho said that
tho subscriptions would not bo as
much as last year.
