Wedderburn, owner of Aleda, who
had won the crowd by her clean run
throughout the mile and an eighth,
also protested against the decision of
the judges. For a time, it looked
as though there might be a "rough

the grandstand out onto the courso
and bitterly condemning tho judges.
R. D. Hume who had been acting as
one of the official timers grew so
angry that he left the judges' stand
and after announcing to tho crowl
that he protested the decision, left
the courso and refused to sign tho
official returns of the race.
It was a pretty race, though.
The baby show was a big feature
of Saturday afternoon at the fair, the
contest exceeding all expectations.
The Interest in it was such that the
front of the grandstand would not f
accommodate tho crowd and tho
pavilion was far too small for the
event. Between fifty and sixty babies
were entered and more would have
been hnd, it not been for the rules
being changed bo as to only permit
children of less than a year old to
be entered.
