WHO WOULDN'T
HAVE A PRIZE?
HI WRIGHT HAS NARROW
ESCAPE FROM DANGERS
Friends of the High School Get
Busy Collecting
Votes.
Candidates in The Times great pop
ular voting contest are exerting every
effort to win one of the prizes effcred.
The middle of the second week finds
many changes in the list. Hundreds
of votes have been cast in the last
few days and some new names have
torged further to the front.
The Marshfleld and North Bend
High Schools both wero busy yes
terday and rolled in several votes.
Mrs. H. C. Diers, whose friends have
been supporting her, has taken up
the contest for the North Bend High
School and requests her friends to
cast their ballots for the school in
stead of voting for her.
The vote for the past few days
past has been heavy considering the
short time the contest has been go
ing on, and from now on it may be
expected to increase daily. Tell your
Irlends that you are out to win and
that you want their votes. People
help those who help themselves, and
if you desire the beautiful piano, a
scholarship or a gold watch, you will
do well to speak to your friends or
give their names to the contest man
ager at once.
The contest department will help
you all it can, but they cannot do it
all; you must help yourself, and if
you will work In conjunction with
the manager of the contest depart
ment and be guided by his advice
you will have a splendid chance to
get a prize.
If you want a prize, get busy by
getting your friends to subscribe for
The Times.

While unloading the heavy logs.
Wright slipped and fell so that the
power cable caught him across the
chest. It had started to tear his
clothes and would have almost cut
him In twain had the operator of
the derrick not noticed the predica

"dogs" allowing the cable to run
slack. This freed Mr. Wright, but a
new danger confronted him as he
fell loose, his legs dropping over the
rails just ahead of the moving load
ed car. Noticing the new danger,
swinging
his legs clear of the track in the nick
of time. In addition to the bad
scare and the loss of the major por
