pected. North Bend Is said to have
made a number of changes In the
lineup of Its team and will present a
stronger front than it has any time
this season.
Many Go Deer Hunting. A large
number of Marshfield people are
planning to depart for the wilds
early next week to get In on the first
deer and elk shooting of the season
which opens July 15. Various ones
have different Ideas about the best
place to get game and consequently
will go in all directions to the un
settled woods.
Mrs. Gage Improved. Sheriff
Gago who visited Mrs. Gage at the
Portland sanitarium reports that she
is improving rapidly a fact that will
bo pleasing news to her mnny Coos
Bay friends. She will remain there
for a short time and after that visit
friends in Junction City and Dlllard,
returning to her home in Coquille
in about six weeks.
Alliance Sails Today. Agent H.
W. Skinner had a message from
Portland today announcing that the
Alliance would come out on her reg
ular schedule from Portland this
evening for Coos Bay, reaching here
early Monday morning. The Nome
City will return to her regular run
between Portland and San Pedro.
On the return trip, the Alliance will
sail from here for Portland, Tuesday
at 1 p. m. On her trip down, the
Alliance will bring two more large
engines for the Coos Bay Gas and
Electric Company.
C. Masters Injured. The many
Marshfield friends of C. Masters of
the firm of McLain & Masters, will
learn with regret that ho was the
victim of a minor accident at Port
Orford tho other day. He is there
superintending the construction of a
cold storage house for R. D. Hume
for which his firm has a contract,
and in some way was struck down
and badly bruised by a large plank.
The injury sustained while painful
is not serious, but necessitates a lay
off from his work for a few days.

CARL GRISSEN, who was expected
to accompany his mother to Coos
Bay, was unexpectedly detained at
McMlnnville, Mrs. Grlssen arrived
yesterday.
W. O. McCANN will leave Monday
for Eureka to look after business
matters and to arrange to bring
more machinery to Marshfield to
hasten tho paving work.
SHERIFF W. W. GAGE returned to
day from Salem where he took
"Mazook" Anderson a few days to
begin his five-year sentence for tho
murder of Mrs. E. S. Gordon.
S. B. CATHCART will leave shortly
for Portland as a delegate to the
Oregon A. O. U. W. grand lodge.
From there, he will go to Medford
to attend the meeting of the Ore
gon Redmen.
THE REV. H. H. BROWN and wife,
aro expected home on the M. F.
Plant today or in the morning
from an extended eastern and
southern trip. The Rev. Mr.
Brown was a delegate to the Gen
eral Assembly of the Presbyterian
church at Kansas City in May and
after its conclusion went to his
old home in New York to visit.
C. M. STAFFORD and wife of Monti
cello, 111., arrived in Marshflld
yesterday with a view of making
their future home here. Mr. Staf
ford Is a brother of D. Y. Staf
ford and attracted here by the al
luring stories of Coos Bay oppor
tunity that the latter painted in
his letters to him. Mr. Stafford
was principal of the public schools
at Minot, N. D., for two years.
MISS EDNA WIEDER will leave
Marshfield tomorrow for San Fran
cisco where she will remain for a
few days as the guest of Dr. Mao
Vanderberg. Later, Miss Wieder
will go to Oakland where she will
enter the Fabiola hospital and
train for a nurse. Miss Wieder is
one of Coos Bay's most popular
young ladies and will bo greatly
missed by her many friends, all
of whom wish her the very best ot
success in her future course.
