on the occasion of tho seventy-ninth birthday of tho founder of the Salvation
Army. General Booth laid the beginnings of his army In 1805. He bgan by
preaching In the slums of English towns and rendering material as well as
spiritual aid to those he drew about him. This has since been the unswerving
policy of the Salvation Army to feed the hungry and comfort the despairing.
