Henry Holverson of this city, a
donkey engineer at Aasen's camp had
the misfortune to lose a couple of
toes while working about his engine

when tho throttle was accidentally
opened by the fireman, and tho wheel
turning, a spoke struck his foot, tak
ing off tho great too and tho one
next to it. Ho will bo on crutches
for a while.

Prank Dillon of the General hos
pital in Marshflold, was a North
Bend visitor yesterday.
Frank Druga, who was operated
on for converting his stomach into a
junk shop, is getting along nicely at
the Mercy hospital.
Chas. Kern, who has been in Port
land and around the Willamette val
ley, says times are very dull there
and that Coos Bay is much better.
Will Durrand of Flagstaff, is now
at Pendleton, Oregon. Mr. Durrand
says it is very hot there and wants
one of the Coos Bay breezes sent up.
Mrs. E. R. Hodson and daughter
of South Coos River, came down yes
terday and will be the guests of Mrs.
Hodson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robt.
M. Cann, for a few days.
W. S. Wood, who recently left
North Bend, Is now in Seattle. Mr.
Wood likes his new location and re
ports that business conditions are
rapidly improving.-
Mrs. J. D. Horn of North Bend,
who underwent a very critical opera
tion one month ago at the Mercy
hospital. Is not Improving as well as
her many friends would wish.
E. R. Hodson of South Coos River,
was at the North Bend mill yester
day getting lumber for a new build
ing in which he will install a milk
ing machine run by water power.
