Wilson expects to start his new
stage line between Coos Bay and
Roseburg on Saturday. W. J. Butler
has been appointed agent for tho

To Sing "Coos Bay." Tho chorus
that rendered "Cpos Bay" so accept
ably under the direction of Prof.
Todd, in this city, recently, has ac
cepted an Invitation to reproduce the
song at the next Chamber o Com
merce meeting. Whether this will
be held Friday evening or a week
from Friday, Secretary Walter Lyon
has not determined.
Injures His Arm. August Farley,
former owner of the Blanco Hotol
Barber Shop, severely Injured his
arm while on a trip up Coos river.
He fell, striking on his arm, dis
locating tho elbow and fracturing the
limb. Tho Injury is a very painful
one but Dr. Houseworth, who attend
ed him, does not anticipate any last
ing effects from it.
Withdraw From Remonstrance.
Tho Rev. Father E. Donnelly and S.
P. Rogers, it is announced, have
withdrawn their names from tho
petitions remonstrating against tho
Improvement of West 'C Avenue.
It Is stated that they did not under
stand tho improvement when they
sinned the remonstrance and that
certain parties misrepresented It to
them.

Babe Has Narrow Escape. The
there-year-old child of Mr. and Mrs.
James Ohland who reside near tho
depot had a narrow escape from
death last night. The child fell from
a porch eight feet high, striking its
head on the sidewalk. While the lit
tie one was quite severely Injured,
the hurts are not considered serious,
Everyone has marvelled, that the lit
tle was not killed outright. This
Is the third accident at tho same
place within a week, all the result of
not having a railing around the
porch.

' Miss Alice McCormac went up
South Coos river today to get their
summer homo in readiness for oc
cupancy next week when the en
tire family will move up to spend
a few months. Fred McCormac
accompanied them as first officer
on the Aloha, the launch on which '
they made tho trip.
MR. M. F. COLLINS, Pacific coast
freight and passenger agent of the
Chicago Great Western railway,
with headquarters In Los Angeles,
departed for homo this morning
after a couple of days spent on
Coos Bay. Mr. Collins was very
favorably Impressed with this sec
tion and excluding his own well
loved City of Angels thinks Coos
Bay, tho most deslrablq business
and residence section of the Pacific
coast.
Donnelly, only one mass will be cele
brated at tho Catholic church in
Marshfleld next Sunday. It will bo
at 8 o'clock with tho Rev. Father
Curloy as celebrant. Mass will be
celebrated ut North Bend at 10
o'ejock.
Goes to Chchalis. Tho Rev. Wm.
F. Holl has received a call to St.
John's Evangelical Lutheran church
at Chehalls, Wash. Mr. Holl , has
gone there to Investigate tho matter
and probably will accept as the Che
halls congregation has agreed to
oroct a flno parsonage for him. If
ho decides to locate there, Mrs. Holl
and the remainder of the family will
leave hero In a fow weeks to join
him.
Paving Is Begun. The paving
work on Front Street started this
morning, Contractor McCann putting
a number of men to work tearing out
tho old stone paving in tho block be
tween 'A' and 'B' streets. The pav
ing will be done one block at a time.
All ot the property owners In' this
block have signed contracts for tha
work and Mr. McCann expects the
property owners in tho other blocks.
