brought the rib of what must havo
boon an Immense whale, to Secretary
Walter Lyon of tho Marshlleld Cham
ber of Commerce. Tho rib is about
sixteen feet long and Mr. Lon and
the parties who recently unearthed
it llgure that the leviathan must
havo been nlnet. feet long and to
have drawn sltv feet of wnter.
Parts of tho head were found about
ninety feet from tho tall bones.
Tho ditcovery indicates that North
Inlet, which Is now on tho Interior
sldo of tho Hay must havo boon part
of tho ocean ami tho dead whalo
deposited there when tho sea was at
least slty feet deep.
Tho matter has nroined consider
able discussion as it indicates that
additional laud Is constantly being
formed on tho coast by the action of
the boa, .
Home Is Quarantined. Tho Hol
mes homo, pear tho bridge leading
to West Marshlleld, was quarantined
this morning on account of ono of
tho children being ill of scarlet
forer. Dr. E. Mlngus was notified of
