which has been fast on the sand spit
at Pony Slough got off at the flood
tide at midnight last night. She
came down to tho Marshfield bunkers
this morning and loaded for Portland.
Xortli Rend Council to Meet. The
North Bend city council will meet in
regular session tonight. It is pre
sumed that threo or four blocks of
plank paving will be ordered. The
proposed new charter will probably
also be taken up and discussed.
Branching Out. - George Good
rum, the clothier and furnisher, lias
just added to his stock a lino of the
high grade Packard shoes. The
shoe department is hereafter to be
as prominent and complete as tho
other features of this popular com
mercial establishment.
Circuit Court Open. Tho next
term of Circuit Court meets at Co
qullle city on Monday, April 27th,
but Judge Hamilton has written say
ing that he will be at Coquillo City
on'Frlday, tho 24th, at 1 o'clock p.
m., to meet with tho attorneys as
is his usual custom.
Will Start AVnrk. Tho Drain Non
pareil says that J. W. Sweeney, who
holds the contract for building four
tunnels on tho now Drain-Coos Bay
railway, near Elkton, is in Drain
preparing to start construction Work.
He expects to get the work underway
within a short time and will rush
It to completion.
