pect to be absent six months. Mr.

S. VERNER left Marshfleld a Bhort
time ago for his home in St. Paul,
where he was called on account of
his mother's illness. Mr. Verner
was on Coos Bay for about four
months, and mado many friends
during his stay, all of whom will
greatly regret his departure.
H. B. HEACOCK left a few days ago
for Portland, where ho will remain
a snort time and thenco go to
Alaska and look ovov tno Held of

finds the outlook satisfactory, Mr.
Heacock will send for his family

sllppe and fell down stairs, sustain

Butter Is Cheaper. There has re
cently been quite a slump in butter,
Superintendent Bessey of tho lpcal
creamery announcing that tho prico
had dropped from 40 cents to 36
cents. Good dairy butter is reported
to be selling for about 24 cents.

St. Patrick's Concert. A pleasing
St. Patrick's day concert was given in
the Claymoro concert hall yesterday
and last evening, and was largely at
tended. Tho majority of the orches
tra numbers wore Irish pieces that
brought forth hearty applause. Prof.
Bucey lead tho orchestra.
Open Printing Ofllce. Stephens &
Mills have opened a job printing
plant at tho corner of Sherman av
enue and Lombard street, Plat B.

Launch New Boat. Tho Ranger,
John Sw'lng's new boat, has been

She is forty-six feet long, flvo feet

A flfty-horso power engine has been

vessel suitable for outside work, as

Creek from Delos Woodruff.

Adolplison has secured the contract
from R, D. Hume to erect a cold stor
age plant at this place. It is to be
hoped that the statement Is correct,
and that tho plant will bo built dur
ing the summer, not on paper, as has
neon tho case with tho Hfo saving sta
tion, but iu reality. It would mean
much for our littlo town.
