Gulls Very Tmno on Bay. A re
markable feature of Coos Bay's bird
life is tho tameness of tho seagulls
which mako their home hero in largo
numbers. Theso birds do a great
good for tho various communities
on th ebay acting as scavangers, and
it is ngainst tho law to kill them.
Result is that they havo became as
tamo as chickens and tho wharves
aro covered with them most of tho
time. When it is taken Into consid
eration that duck shooting on the
bay Is prevalont all over the places
where tho gulls fly, tho laws against
shooting tho birds aro pretty well
kept, otherwise the gulls would bo
qulto wild.
