Regarding the roadway between hero and Roseburg, tho following communication was read at tho meet ing last night from Supervisor E. N. Harry, of SItkum, who looks after the worst part of the county road: ' Dear Sir: As the people of Marsh fleld still look for the mall to come over the Coos Bay wagon road, and as I have spent most all of that $1200 that the county appropriated, men have signified their Intention of x thlnk now ls the tlme for tho peop,e starting good sized plants, Mr. ot Marshfleld to make a demand at Bruschke, of this city, said last night the next torm of the county court for that free sites could be secured in tho ?3600 to repair the said road In the Coos Bay addition to the city. canyon aU0ve Brewster Valley. That It is quite evident that to secure am0unt properly spent in the canyon numerous manufacturing Industries would make that road a practlcal in this section, it is only necessary to thoroughfare tho year round. Some time ago a letter was sent to Congressman Hawley by the Chamber of ComnWce regarding the mall situ ation on Coos Bay. Mr. Hawley sent tho letter to tho postmaster general at Washington, and the following an swer has been forwarded to the Chamber of Commerce, by way of Mr. Hawley: "Sir: In answer to your letter of It. An invitation to Coos County to have a huge float representing the re sources of the county at tho Rose Carnival In Portland next June, was read, and the matter was taken under consideration. Talks on the values of Coos County woods, especially myrtle, and the rockless waste by the mills were heard from George W. Duncan, of North Bend and Mr. Bruschke. Lino Still Closed An engine and caboose tried the line to Coquille this mornlg on tho local railroad, but could get no further than Toledo. Tho tracks are still flooded pretty badly, and while the sun has been shining, it will take several days of dry weather to enable the Coquille to reach a normal stage. House Help Is Scarce. According to reports heard around the city there ls a great demand for house help somebody that can do what Is required of them. It Is the same old cry from all sections of the country, that house help Is hard to secure, and as Elbert Hubbard says, "It is much easier to get a wife than a good kitchen mechanic." Meat Scarce In North Bend There was quite a meat famine In North Bend yesterday when all tho availa ble product except pork was sold out by tho retail stores, which had taller behind in their shipments. The goo times in that city have caused th citizens to acquire a fine appetite am the ability to purchase the best to b obtained in tho meat line.
