They report the completion of the locution survey from Drain to Port Orford, with tho heaviest gfade at, four-tenths of lone per cent and the maximum curves at one per cent. The location survey is shorter than tho Cooper preliminary survey and on lighter grades. They will attempt to locate the line on the west face of Mt. Humbug, nnd If they succeed in so doing, we firmly bollove that it will be a piece of the most scenic railroad on the Pacific coast. For a grander view will be a hard ono to find of tho Ma jestic Pacific Ocean. To the south will bo seen the Rogue river reef, then the Fish rocks, Island rock, Tichenor rockT then Blnnco reef to the north. Wo believe that nowhere else in the world will it bo possible, to sit in your Pullman berth and view a storm in its grandeur and fury. SUMNER DOINGS F. K. Tho Coos Bay Monthly was Issued yesterday and It Is a meritorious number. It ngaln has a hyphenated date, May-June, and tho editor in forms tho readers that tho work will soon be up to tho point where month ly Issues will be put out. This issue has a paying quantity of advertising, and besides several pages of good editorials, has some interesting local matter pertaining to Coos and Curry counties. The illustrations are new and Coos River gets a good share of attention. Miss Daisy E. B. Reedy, well known to Coos Bay people, has a poem, "Is It Worth While?" and the first four verses sound very much as if inspired. Heic they are: I. Is It worth while to try to smile When all one's soul's in tears? To toll and strive to keep, alive Whilo days grow into years? Is there relief for one's heart grief O'er home life's broken ties? On all tho earth Is there aught worth That bitter sacrifice? Is it worth while to face life's trials; To struggle to be bravo; When from the heart all joys depart, Or find an unmarked grave? How weary grows tho road one knows How endless seems each mile! Why plod ahead when hope is dead! Oh, is it worth the while? - II, Was it worth while to so defile God's Son to human plane, That-wo might win cleansing from sin And free our souls from stain? And was the trial of Christ worth while In dark Gethsemane? Does child of earth "daie claim his worth Deserved a Calvary? t Shall wo complain that grief or pain Too bitter is to bear? Can earthly loss equal tho cross Our Lord could live and wear? Despised and jeered; hated yet feared, He faced a wholo world's blame: With God-like grace, died In our place; Nor faltered 'neath tho shame. Tho loss of fame, love, riches, name, Mako endless seem each mile, Give of thy youth, life, courago, truth! God makes it worth the while. BUILDING NOTES BEL Wet QMff J.
