drubbing Bandon and getting in
shape to dispute second place with
North Bond. Coquillo has two games
to play on now, -and this is consid
ered n prettj strong lead where
there is but ono game each week.
She meets Bandon next Sunday and
unless she takes a big slump, should
emerge from tho scramble with two
games to tho good. Marshfield and
North Bend will come together on
tho Marshfield grounds, and with tho
teams tied for second place, it is
probable every lover of tho national
sport will be out to seo tho game.
Bandon will content herself with
trying to keep Coquillo from gaining
any greater lead, and it would bo no
great surprise to seo them wallop
the leaders, sfneo their new pitcher,
Holm, is dishing up a variety of
curves which keeps tho best of them
guessing.

sixth and took three more, while
North Bend had none. Tho boys

Coquillo got ono as well.
When tho North Bend team camo
to bat In tho ninth they needed six
runs to tie. They started a bom
bardmont and had three men across
tho rubber and two out, besides threo
men on bases, when Dr. Gale, of
whom tho fans expect a hit when
needed, camo to bat. Excitement
was running high, and everybody was
up and encouraging the shifty doc
tor. But Coquillo was not destined
to loso out after having had the game
safely won through the eight Innings.
Dr. Galo hit a grounder to first and
tho agony was over.
Thoso who witnessed the game
wore well pleascc with tho cxnibltion,
and except for the decision where
North Bend thought they had tho'
worst of it, everything was satisfac
tory. Tho pitching was about equal
and tho crowd was large.

ing. From start to finish the game
was of tho gilt-edge variety, marked
with sensatiional catches and fast
fielding. To bo sure, tho inveltablo
errors happened, but only in ono or
two instances did this affect tho re
fulting score.
Mickey McKeown mad,o a sensa
tional running catch of a high liner,
and for a while' It looked as though
he would havo to acknowledge the
demonstrations of onthusiasm, but
tho storm passed over without seri
ous damages. Liljeqvist in center
field covered himself with glory,
going after everything in his territory
