Jack Williams has returned from a hunting trip up Coos river with a party of friends and has resumed act ive training In the rear of the Blanco .'hotel. He Is said to be In the pink of condition for his twenty round contest at the pavllliln in North Bend a week from next Sunday afternoon. Ross Is reported to be training hard er than ho ever has for former fights. It is said, he will be willing to bet any amounton tho resuit. Williams will bo at tho deslrod weight in a week despite tho report to the con trary. There Is a heavy amount of money ready to back him against the North Bend phamplon. BANQUETED ABOARD STEAMER ALLIANCE ' Tho train on which Governor Chamberlain went from Salem to Portland, in ordor to make connec " tfons with tho steamer Alliance, was four hours late, and upon telegraph ing Captain Olsen to see whether or not the vessel could be held that 'length of time, Captain Olsen replied that, ho would hold the vessel at the ' governor's convenience. Immediately after sailing from Portland tho governor and his party -were served with a fine banquet on . board the ship, at which only tho ship's officers and Governor Cham iberlaln wero present.
