Monday stages will start Koine

Sumner to Roseburg. This schedule
will be kept In force the remainder
of the summer, and will bo much ap
preciated by those traveling over that
road. The stages have not been cov
ering the entlro trip for the past four
months, the passengers having had
to go part of the distance on horse
back. There arc are from 800 to 1,200
pounds of mall carried over tho route
dally, and that, together with the
passengers, will make it necessary to
put on several stages during the sum
mer. The roads are said to be in fairly
good shape at present, considering
,the time of year and the severe wea
ther of the past winter months.

The Coleman blacksmith shop re
cently erected on Front street, has
been much improved by the applica
tion of a coat of paint. This is prob
ably the best arranged blacksmith
shop In Coos County and is certainly
much better than the average shop.
Mr. Coleman has a large well ar
ranged shop equipped with the latest
machinery.
A six room cottage will be erected
at once by Mr. Coleman along side
of his new shop. The new residence
will be occupied by Mr. Coleman
himself.
Purchnses Piano.
J. J. Cllnkenbeard of Daniels
Creek has purchased from the
Haines Music House the first piano
to be taken into that district. The
instrument is a Qabler make, ono of
the best pianos on the market.
BITTEN BY DOG.
Son of Mr. and Mrs. Barber Is At
tacked. The young son of Mr. and Mrs.
Barber, living at Plat B, was at
tacked yesterday forenoon by a dog
and bitten in five or six -places. At
last reports the boy was resting
easily.
