Next Mon day will witness in Corvallls the opening of a campaign that in lis success or failure will mean much to the Oregon Agricultural College. It will he a campaign to raise ?6,000 by May 20 for the completion of the college Y. M. C. A. building, which has been begun, but which, for lack of funds, stands Incomplete out on College Hill, the hope and the worry of a large class of earnest and worthy young men, who are bending every energy toward securing funds for its completion. Every resident of Corvallls will be asked to contribute, as will numer ous other persons throughout the state, as the building is of state-wide Importance, since it will be used by students by every county In the state save one. The students themselves have al ready pledged the sum of $955.50. Because of the rapid advance in the price of both labor and building material since the plans were drawn for the structure, It Is necessary to raise much more than was originally planned, and the $6,000 must bo forthcoming by May 20. Some of the students most Interested In the work will devote their time to the work until that time. .MAY UPSET ELECTION. Arrests Follow the Selection of Life Insurance Directors. New York, May 1. Following an Inquiry by the district attorney's office into the recent election of di rectors of the New York Life Insur ance company, four arrests were made, three here and one In Albany, Other arrests are expected. It was said here that if certain charges were proven, the result of the election might be upset. Jacob Frank, a New York Life ngent, was arrested, charg ed with forgery in the third degree. Later in the day, Charles Stirrup, said to have been a watcher for the , international policy holders at the recent election, was arrested on a charge of conspiracy. Charles F. Carrlngton, another watcher, was arrested conspiracy being the charge. At Albany George Scrugham, secre tary of International policy holders, was placed under arrest, also on a charge of conspiracy.
