creek Tuesday evening, on busi

J.H.'Haner of Prinevill, was
in Madras Tuesday calling on
friends and looking after busi
ness rr.atters.
At the home of its parents,
S tturday, October 5th., Mr. and
Mrs. Hunter, occured the death
of their jnfant son.
Mrs. Ralph Brown of Kaskela,
on the Oregon Trunk line, is vis
iting during this week at the
home of her mother Mrs. M. E.
Percival.
H W. Manning, the light man
has been in town several days of
late installing many new lamps
and repairing other systems
around the burg.
Mrs. Fannie Barton now. resid
ing at Hood River came in on
the train Thursday evening, and
is visiting friends in and around
Madras this week.
J.B . McDowell, a former resi
dent of the Culver country,
passed through Madras Sunday
evening on the train, to call on
some old friends in that section
this week.
S. Nace and wife, who have
been spending sometime visit
in? friends and relatives in
Walloa County, Oregon, after the
Round-up at Pendleton, returned
home Tuesday evening.
D. F. Areinsmier and family,
who have been living in the
vicinity of Salem, during the past
ten months, returned to their
home near Metolius last week and
will remain during the winter
at least.
J. J. Hinton, who has a grad
ing contract on a railroad in Brit
ish Columbia, came down Tues-'
day evening, and is visiting with
friends and relatives in this
section, and is looking after his
farm lands.
W. M. Neal, who has been em
ployed on this sheet for seveval
weeks past, and better known as
the "cowboy printer" left Satur-
day evening for the southeastern
part of the state, and later wii
go to his home in Montana. '
