Many of the most nQta ble men and women of the Unit ed States and Canada will appear on the general program of the Congress each evening. Every civilized country in the world is now studying the tillage and cropping methods taught by the International Dry Farming Congress. Its mpntfuv bulletins and reports go to every cprner of the earth. Dry-Farming is a scientific term used by celleges and au thors to differentiate between the new system of a,grjcujture and the older methods utilized in the rainbelts and irrigation districts. A special system of tillage of the soil for the purpose of moisture and fertility con servation is known tp be neces sary for at least 63 per cent, of the agricultural acreage of the world, and the Dry-Farming Congress was brought into ex istence for the purpose of work ing out these problems and re medies for the troubles confront ing farmers of the sub-humid districts, or in districts where there are frequent droughts or failing soils. "Dry-Farming is free from mystery of any kind; any farmer on any soil and in any climate can increase his acreage production, crop quality and bank account. Dry-farming methods can be utilized with profit upon every. acre, and in every district of the world. The phrase does not mean the operation of farms where no moisture is nhrainnhlp but does mean the utilization of auch tillage methods as are. from time to time, demonstrated to be most efficient in the reduction of evaporation and the produc tion of a practical storage reser ypir, the utilization of minimum or untimely meisture, etc. The werk pf the Congress includes the study of farm machinery tillage, the development of .drought-resistant plants and bet ter metheds pn the farm.
