PORTLAND CLUB IS GATHERING EXHIBITS Commercial Bodies are Asked to Send In Agricultural Products for Big' Display Subscribe I'or Your Hume Paper $I.SO per Year Great efforts are being made by the Portland Commercial Club to collect exhibits of the agricul tural resources of the state to be used at ab the big land shows and exhibitions in the East this year, the purpose being to show them on the railroad exhibit cars, at the dry framing congress at Alberta, and at various other places east of the Rocky Moun tains. A call Has been sent to the commercial organizations of all parts of the state, urging them to send in exhibits at once. Otherwise their cities and dis tricts will not receive repereseri tation in the great exhibits in the East. Grains, grasses, veg etables and small fruits are wanted for the exhibits immedi ately. FoOowing are, in substance, the instructions for preparing the exhibits that have been sent with the requests for assistance in assembling them: Grains, grasses, clover and al falfa are to be gathered in uni form lengths hand bound in sheaves four inches through. Ten sheaves are asked from each locality contributing to the exhibit, since they are to be dis tributed at land shows in many different places. Each sheaf arid other entry is to be tagged with the name of the grower and the locality where it was grown, so that cups, medals or other prizes that may bo won for them may be sent to tho party' who is entitled to them, after having been exhibit ed in Portland after the land show season has closed. Threshed grain samples can be assembled later in the season, but the Comecrial Club is parti cularly eager to complete its sheaf exhibits now. Vegetables and small fruit exibits are also required at this time. The Portland Club will co operate with the other com mercial organizations of the state in corresponding with farmers in various districts and by taking charge of the exhibits when they haVe been assembled and sent to Portland. By this extensive method of working, it is hoped that arrangements may be made for advertising the agricultural possibilities of the state more widely than has ever before been done.
