Rice, formerly bookkeep er at the Central Oregon store, arrived in Madras Saturday on his return from a trip to Coos county, Oregon. Mr. Rice ex pects to return to Marshfield the middle of January to take a posi-' tion offered him on this trip. He left Sunday for his home in the Lower Bridge country. A crew of men is now at work concreting tunnels 6 and 7 on the Oregon Trunk road nearj Madras. There is about 1000 feet , of concreting to be done at each tunnel and will require five or six months to complete the job. W. I. Barnard, in charge of the crew, will make his home here I while the work is going on.
