open next Monday in the new
building just completed.
There will be regular services
in the Christian church next Sun
day, October 15, 'at 11:00 a. m.
and 8:00 p. m. You are cordially

Attorney Bergland was in
Prineville the first of the week
on legal business. He says that
the county seat town is unusually
active right now preparing for
the county fair.
J. II. Windom left Monday for
Portland to receive medical at
tention. George Luckey accom
panied him. Mr. Windom's con
dition was such that he required
the attention of a nurse. Prine

Rev. John J. Pacey, pastor of
the M. E. Church announces aa
his subject for the 11:00 a. m.
service, "Christ and the People."
Evening service at 8:00 p. m.,
subject, "A Great Savior." All
are welcome.
Glenn Loucks writing from the
hunters camp on the headwaters
of the McKenzie river, to his
wife in Madras, says that game
where he is is plentiful but the
party had been having poor luck.
He is expected home today.
Rev. C. A. Sias, pastor of the
Christian church, is advertising
a public sale this week to take
place the 18th of this month at
his ranch on the Little Plain.
Mr. Sias states that it is his in
tention after the sale to move to
Madras for the winter.
A double wedding occurred in
the parlor of Hoted Prineville
Wednesday, October 4, when Geo.
H. Hutchinsand LeonaM. Kuhne
and Alfred W. Howell and Ida
Lindback were united in mar
riage by Judge Kennedy. All
the parties were from Bend.

The Epworth League social
and reception for Rev. John J.
Pacey and wife held last Friday
evening at the M. E. church was
well attended and every one
present had an enjoyable time.
After the games were played,
and before serving refreshments,
the new pastor and his wife were
presented with a chair as a token
of appreciation for their coming
here.
A. E. Peterson returned last
Thursday night from Portland
where he went to select a line of
jewelry and other articles for the
holidays. Mr. Peterson now has
one of the most complete and
best selected stock of jewelry in
Central Oregon. Among the ad
ded holiday goods are beautiful
and costly toilet sets, novelty hat
pins, brooches, scarf pins,
watches, clocks, diamonds, etc.
Fred Zell returned last Thurs
day evening from a business and
pleasure trip to Portland, Salem
and other Willamette valley
towns. While in Portland he
purchased two Studebaker un
dercut trucks which he will use
in his dray business. The trucks
are the latest models in use by
the large transfer companies in
the cities and cost $820. Fred
also states that the dynamo and
fixtures for his electric light plant
will bo shipped from Chicago
sometime next week.
Carpenters are at work this
week finishing the Christian
church building. The church
wasleft unfinished several months
ago because of a lack of funds to
continue the work. Recently the
ladies of the church succeeded in
raising sufficient money to re
sumo work with the result that
the now floor has been laid and
the tower completed. It is un
derstood that it will be papered
and finished inside in an attrac
tive manner in a few weeks.

a.m., instead of 9:41 a.m.; and
arrives Portland 6:00 p.m.; in
stead of 7:45 p. m.
