Yards North of Stockyards MADRAS, OREGON Paul Garvin, Manager LAND SHOW NOW AN ASSURED SUCCESS Tide of Immigration Will bo Turned Through Twin Glty Oateway to Northwestern Stntee r That the high tidd of immigra tion will be turned to the North west during the next lew years is duo to the enthusiasm of the farmers, commercial clubs, busi ness men and railways of the great Northwest, who have made such careful advance prepara tions and plans, that the success of the Twin City land show is now assured. As the readers of this newspaper know, the North western Land Products Show is for, by and with the seven con federated states of the North western Development league -Minnesota, North and South Da kota, Montana, Idaho, Washing ton and Oregon. Canada will not compete, nor will it be al lowed to compete, nor will any state or community outside of the seven states which compose the Northwestern Development league be permitted to exhibit. The Territory of Alaska, which is part and parcel of the great Northwest; - the outlet to our great Northern territory being through Portland, Oregon, and Seattle, Washington will un doubtedly have a strong exhibit. This is only right, for in general the American residents of Alaska are almost all Northwestern men and women. The farmers, busi ness men, commercial clubs and railways who started the North western Development league last .1 i it 1 summer Knew mat ineir iaea was the right idea in having a land show for the Northwest. Here in St. Patil, in our own territory, -managed by residents of the Northwest who are boost ers, of course, for their own sec tion, there will be no chance for unjust decisions or any discrimi nation against our products. Every state will have adequate representation and the best men, or rather the best farmers, who show their best products, will win the prizes. No one is going to make any money on this show. It is a partnership enterprise. The far mers, the commercial clubs, the business men and the railways are all trying to help each other. They will meet on a mutual basis and will all hold up the progres sive Northwestern farmer and show the world what the fertile soil of the seven confederated states can really produce. The truth is good enough. The news papers not only of the Twin City but of Helena and other common wealths are giving space to the news items and are in every way endeavoring to boost this show. But it is not only the newspapers of the larger cities, according to Mr. Campbell, the secretary, who are helping; the commercial clubs in the smaller towns, the farmers and the small country newspapers are all doing their part to help bo6st the North west. No one is lagging. Every where the enthusiasm shown is such that the officials know now that the Northwestern Land Pro ducts Show will be a great suc cess. In a few days a list of the val uable prizes will be prepared and while no prize is so valuable to a community as a few new, good settlers, yet at the samevtime many prizes will be given so that the farmers who take time to prepare the best exhibits will be properly rewarded. The is no doubt but what thou sands of the better class of Am ericans of the Eastern and manv thousands of the more industrious foreigners in the big cities will be brought to the Northwest next spring by the exhibits in our own show in St. Paul, Dec ember 12th to 28th. - - .
