Regarding the disappearance of- Max Wilson, the Pioneer seems to have been in error in the article printed in the issue of June 8th, with reference to the dividing of the money by Mr. and .Mrs. Wilson, at the Warmsprings Ferry, the after noon of his disappearance. Mrs. Wilson states that nothing was said about dividing the money, which they had taken with them rom the store, and also with reference to Mr. Wilson's disap appearance several years since, when Mr. Wilson was in the middle west looking for employ ment. Mrs. Wilson states that j on this occasion she failed to re ceive several letters that he had ! written her, which was the ' bundation of the report that lie j had deserted her at that time. i The body of John E. York was bund recently in Rogue river, near Grants Pass, wrapped in a leavy logchain which had been used for a sinker. A "man named , Holly Wilkes was arrested, ! charged with the murder and atr made a confession of the. crime, lie said that he went to York's camp and that a quarrel resulted, during which he hit York a blow on the head with a club, and then threw him in the river. York was well known here, having been engaged in the freighting business for sev eral years. Since the murder Wilkes has sold one of York's earns and put another team in jasturb, and it is believed that le murdered him with the in tention of realizing from his property.
