As booh as the last votes are cast on the closing night, the ballot box and the keys to the sumc will be turned over to the judges, who will have charge of it until the votes are counted and the winner announced. Beginning Friday, July 2.1, and closing Thursday, August 3, wo aro going to make old and new subscriptions all of equal value, and they will remain of equal value until thu end of the contest. This is done for the reason that the contestants have found that some of the old subscribers think it unfair that they should receive a fewer number of votes than now subscriber, and are unwilling to help for that reason. Thfroforo, during the remaining two and a half weoka of tho contest, now and old subscriptions will all receive votes according to tho schedule which appears in this week's issue of the Ptaiieer. Henry Comm. a cousin of A. jC. San ford, was here this week. Mr. Corum is the inventor or a patented fire escape, which he is .selling throughout the United States. The new depot of the Des chutes Railway at Gateway is practically completed and will be occupied shortly.
