Buys Forty Miles Wire The Agency Plains Telephone company has purchased through the Central Oregon Mercantile company, forty miles of wire to be used in the construction of their new line from Madras to Mecca, and for the branch lines which are to serve the farms of the stockholders. The line is to be built as soon as the materials are available. A meeting of the board of directors was held Sat urday night at Mountain View schoolhouse, when the standard for the class of phones to be in stalled was determined and other matters considered. The phones to be used will be of very high grade. In Crook County The following effusion was found on the new grade from Agency Plain to Mecca, written on a board, evidently the work of one of the laborers, who helped construct the grade. "There was a crooked man lie walked a crooked mile He shed a crooked tear And smiled a crooked smile And when he got to Mecca Believe me what 1 say He was so G d crooked He couldn't get away."
