Guaranteed Xfr X X HAYCREEK RANCH PUT ON MARKET Famous B. S, & L. Sheep Ranch Subdivided OFFERS HOMES FOR MANY Rich Truct of 20,000 Acres Tributary to Aladrns Contains Cream of Irrigated Land. Offering what can be made into beautiful homes for upwards of 1000 people, the famous Hay creek ranch formerly owned by the Baldwin Sheep & Land Com pany, 12 miles east of Madras has been placed on the market in tracts from 40 acres up.. This tract, much of which is irrigated alfalfa land contains 20,000 acres, and there is little doubt that it will be eagerly purchased by land seekers with means for in vestment, as embraced in this ranch is some of the cream of Central Oregon real estate. R. V. Jones, president of the Base Line Land Company, which has the disposal of the property, Was here the first of the week making arrangements for selling he land, and a sales office has has been opened in this city in charge of L. S. Weeks, until re cently in the employe of the Oregon and Western Colon iza- ion company. The Haycreek ranch is one that has a world wide fame, and up until a year or more ago when he property changed hands was operated as a blooded sheep ranch, carrying the largest flock of the finest Kambouillet Merino sheep in the world. Shipments of these famous sheep have in years past been made in large numbers to South Africa, Austra- ia and other distant points where the sheep industry is car ried on extensively. At times the Baldwin Sheep & Land com pany run as high as 40,000 head of sheep but in later years this number was reduced somewhat on account of the curtailment of government range. The announcement that the and is to be parceled out to homebuilders is an important one to Madras from a business stand point as this city is the nearest and natural shipping point for that neighborhood, and its set tlement is a matter that will directly affect local trade. It will mean that eventually several hundred new homes will be es tablished tributary to this city and that too, by the most desir able class of settlers. Double Wedding Rev. D. V. Poling pronounced t he words, Saturday evening at the parlors of Hotel Dalles, which united two couples in mar riage and made four hearts most happy. Samuel and William Mitchell, brothers, who reside near Madras, were the grooms, while the brides were Miss Alice Murdock late of Canada, and Miss Mary Tosh, who arrived from Ireland on the day of her mar riage. The witnesses df the double ceremony were James and John Patterson, uncle and cousin of the bridegrooms. The brides were becomingly gowned in white and carried carnations.
