Graham, western and industrial immigration agent of the Great Northern Railway, and will hereafter devote his time encouraging people to come to Central Oregon and build homes in the land where he has labored so faithfully and successfully in exploiting the advantages and possibilities of agricultural pur suits. Mr. Reuter accompained the party of prominent Hill people who were here last week on their return trin to Pnrf.lnml nff. their visit here and at nr.W points in the interior for the purpose of investigating irri gation prospects for the Madras district. The Oregonian says in connection with Mr. Reuter's visit in Portland: Tillman Reuters success on his 35 acre farm near Madras has been phenominal. Without irri gation he has been able to raise crops that have taken first prizes at nearly all the agricultural competitions held in the North west in the past few years. He accompanied the party to Port land, this being the first trio he ever made from his present home to this city on a railroad train. Hamlin, deputy United States marshal from Portland, came in last Saturday evening to serve civil papers on the 13 members of the Madras Black Belgian Horse company, in a suit brought in the federal court by the Capital National bank of Denver to collect a balance due on notes, which the local com pany issued for the purchase of a stallion about a year ago. Last spring the Madras com pany was formed and purchased a Belgian stallion at a cost of about $3200, from the Denver Horse Importing company, giv ing their note in part payment. Soon afterward the company had internal difficulties and went to pieces, leaving unpaid about $400 on the notes, which in the mean time had been sold to the Denver bank, which now brings action to collect the balance due, to gether with interest and Deschutes Valley Land And Investment Company Exclusive Agents CULVER, : OREGON Oregon Central Lumber & Supply Co.
