An Ordinance entitled An Ordinance
providing for licencing nnd regulating
wholesale liquor dentin?.
Be It ordained by the, Common Coun
cil of thoClty of Madras:
Section I. That any person, corpo
ration or company, wishing to engugu

vinous liquors and hard rider, at whole
sale, in the corporate limit of the city
of Madras, mmt first obtain a license

Sectiou 2 All licences obtained un
der the provisions of this ordinance
shall be paid Semi-annually, aud com
mence asncur as practicable on the ltt
d iy of Januiry and 1st day of July of
fach year, provided, however, that the
City Council, may at iu discretion is
sue a license for the unexpired time or
either half of the year by ihe applicant
paying a pro rata amount of sum of
money for a license as tired in this or
dinance. Section 3. No person, firm or cor
poration having obtained a license to
aell spiritous, malt or viuous liquors
and hard cider, at wholesale, as etate.d

rider, at retail, without Having first ob
tained a license from the Council of ihe
City of Madras to do so.
Meetion 4. That any person, firm or

to the city treasurer of the City of Mad
ras the sum of $250 00; which sum
when so paid shall entitle him or them
to a license lor the time specified in such
application, provided, however, that

reject any and nU application for a li
cence to sell spiritous, malt aud vinous
liquors and hard cider, at wholesale or
retail.
Section 5. That any person, corpo
ration or company violating any or the
piovislons of this ordinance, kIiuII be
guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon
conviction therefore before the record
er's court, shall b"j punished by a fine
of not less than $5 00 Dollars nor not
more than $50.00 Dollars, or be con
fined in the City jsil one day for each
two dollars of such fine as iuay be ad
judged against them.
