Monday morning three more cases were reported in the family of Hiram Wnterhouse, who were immedintely given anti-toxine, and the doctor reports that the disease has been checked. Lyman Griswold, district engineer of the Oregon Trunk Line, was here last week Friday nnd Saturday looking over the work in this section. He was ac companied by his wife.- Redmond Spokesman. Monday evening a meeting of the School Hoard of this district was held at Sanford's store for the purpose of de ciding what was to be done in regard to the closing of the school on account o the diphtheria which has been affecting sev eral families. Many outside persons in terested in the welfare ot the school were also piesent and expressed their views on the subject. It was finally Jecided by the Hoard to continue school for the pres ent, but require nil pupils to be examined of n morning before entering school to ascertain if there were any signs of tho disease in their throats. As there are no funds available in the district for such purpose, n subscription paper has been prepared and is being circulated to defray the expense of such daily examination. Mrs. C. C. Healy, left last week to visit at ihe home of her mother in an eastern city. E. Hergland, an attorney who has been located at tend for some time past, nr rived in Madras this week and expects to locate here permanently.' The Madias Well Uniting Co, have mtJVed their machine out to the Mrs J E, Dean place during the past week, and will put down a well to a considerable depth on this place. At the M. E. Church Sunday morning the pastor will preach on the subject "Humility." In the evening on "Home." Preaching service at the Mountain View School House Sunday aflernoon at 2:30 p, m, Thankfgiving at the M. E, Church will be one ol good cheor to every one who attends. At 11 a, m. the pastor will prendh a Thanksgiving sermon; Ladles Aid Thanksgiving dinner at 12 30 p. m.
