buintf made for the removnl of the
Htore and post ofllco at old Culver to
the new townsite on the railroad. This
section Is now supplied with Rural Free
Delivery of mail.
Ninth Because the first purchasers
and the towntittc people arc erecting
substantial buildings for business enter
prises and the down is needed by the
farmers and country people.
Tenth BccouBe Culver is 119 miles
south of Celllo, just the right distance
for a Division. It iuulso the most con
venient pluce for the line to be built
from the main line to Prinevillc.
Eleventh Because the railroads own
27 acres through the heart of the town
for riglit of way, switches, yardage,
etc.
Twelfth- Because there is not a bad
lot in the towhsite. Every lot is a good
one, level and smooth.
Last but Not Least- Cnlver fills a
long felt want in this particular locality
for the furmcra need a nearby market
and shipping point for their thousands
of bushels of grain. It is almost
equally distant between Redmond and
Madras and while St will be a great
benefit to the farming community which
it will serve it is too distant to be any
injury to the sister towns. There is
room for all in this prosperous valley.
Culver is being advertised in the lo
cality where it is to be and is being
builded. The home people are asked to
support and help it along and in turn
the town will work for the interests of
the farmers. It is hoped to muko this
a community of interests.

will be equipped with the latest improv
ed machinery.
The power plant will be located about
eight miles castof Adams, on the Uma
tilla River. It Is estimated that the
proposed plant will develop between 4000
and 5000 horsepower. It is planned to
build a railroad from Adams to some
point on the Columbia Rivur, probably
at Cold Spring. The line will tap a
good wheat country. It is proposed to
install gasoline motors instead of steam
or electrical power to opcrs to the road.
It is understood that in connection with
this line a string of boats -will be oper
ated between Cold Spring or Umatilla
Landing and Portland durimg the ship
ping season.
