The Dalles Optimist d-- - GARRETT BA$Y DROWNS Jack, the infant son of Mr. and Mis. James Garrett, was drowned at the home of its patents near Haycreek, Saturday, July 31, 1909. While Mr. and Mrs. Garrett were absent lor a few moments Irom their place, they left the little one playint; nenr the house, nnd upon their re turn the mother found the baby drowned in a watering trough containing not over eight Inches of water. It is supposed that the baby, while playing in the watering trough lost its bnlance and fell head first into the shallow water, Irom which he did not have the strength to raise his weight and extricate himself. The bnby was 1 5 months of ace. The remains were laid at rest in Antelope cemetery, Monuny, AiiKiist 3. Mr. and Mrs. Garrett, who are overwhelmed with grief at the loss of their little son, have the sincere sympathy of their neighbors and friends throughout the county.
