. Lucien Lewis of Kedmditd arrived in
Madras last Friday with his wife, who ic
ceriily iuffurcd a stroke of paralysis, and
whom he is taking buck to their old home
in Michigan. They went over to Warm-
jsprlni from Madras, expecting to have an
auto meet them there and take them
tliioiigh to Tlie Dalles, but were unable
to secure one, C. H Durbin went over
in hlsar Tuesday nnd look them out to
the railroad at Shanlko. Mr. Lewis was
formerly a government employe on the
Wnrnxpring reservation, being stationed
at Simnnsho, but last year moved to Ked-
moiid, wliere be had bought irrigated
land. He has many friends and acquain
tances here who will be jorry to learn of
the mitfottune which has overtaken him,

MRS. STEVE DINGER DEAD
Word was received here List Saturday
of the death of Mrs. S. E. Hinder, which
occurred at San Hernardino, California,
Saturday June 26 The news cainc in j
letters to A. I). Anderson and Mr. and 1
Mrs. )ohn McTaggatt, and which con
tained the information that Mrs, Hinder
had died at sis o'clock in the morning of
the preceding Saturday,
Mr Hinder and his family left Madras
several months ago for California, whcie
they, went on account of Mrs. Hiudei's
poor health, and in ihc lnpc that the Cal
ifornia climate would benefit her. Vei'y
little hai been heard from them since they
left Madras, although it wn understood
that Mrs Hinder hud mt made the im,
piovrment that wns hoped for. Mrs.
Hinder had relatives in San Hcrnaidiiio
and it is probable that interment of the
body took place there In the letters re
ceived no mention was made of Mr. len
der's plans for the future, but he has busi-
