Rooper of Antelope and D. A. Howell of Shaniko lia,V,e been appointed a committee to visit Crook county and ascer tain what amount will be con tributed by the citizens 01 this county towards improving Cow Canyon road. They will be in Madras next Monday evening, February S, to fully explain the plans for impioving this impor tant highway, and all who" hie. interested in the matter should he here to meet them. The ueeting will be held in San ford's hall. The situation with reference to the proposed improvement is this: Watco county has agreed to give the Shaniko district.for use in Cow Canyon, the amount raised by road tax in that dis trict, about SG00. It will not? however, appropriate money raised in other districts for use on a road traveled cuieiiy hy residents of another county. is estimated that the road can be put. in first class conditio'n for about $1200. and Wasco county is willing to take charge and put ,the road through, pro vicied urooic county will raise by voluntary subscription about $600 as their proportion Be Rure to attend the meeting next Monday evening.
