The Madras Pioneer
DRY FARMING SUCCESS

culled, where Dr. Cooke last fall
planted a quantity of winter
wheat and rye, says the Chey
enne Tribune. These two grains
are showing astonishing pro
gress und are covering tile prai
rie with a beautiful carpet ol
green, which is elsewhere brown
and dust'.
At the model farm which is
located a few miles just east of
the city, Dr. Cooke will this
year grow potatoes, spelts, Held
pens, oats and barley. The land
is so situated that irrigation is
impossible and is a valuable
object lesson in the possibilities
of dry farming in this vicinity.
Dr. Cooke will also spend a
good portion of the spring and
summer in various parts of the
state interesting ranchmen and
other, holders of large acreage.8
