It did look for awhile as though Harrhnan, spurred on by the danger of an invasion of this territory by other interests, was going to "get busy on the extension of the Corvallis& Eastern railroad, and in the Bend country, es peciallj, the extension of that road was looked to Us the most hopeful prospect of relief frour .their transportation troubles. tWith the adjacent woods full of Harrhnan surveyors, rushing work in the location of an easy Banana Winter apple thntllobd River sella for $8 a box. An other variety that attracted n good deal if attention was called the "Wolf River." The apples measured 10 x 10 1-2 inches and were perfect speci mens of their kind. We also noticed some fine specimens o: Pound Pippins, Spttzenbergs Golden Russets, Blue Pear mains, Yellow Newton Pippins Yellow Beliilowers, King o Tompkins County, Arkansas Blacks, Smith Cider, Northern Sp3 Rome Beauty, Red;Cheek- ed Pippin, Rhode Island Green ing, Delaware Red, Winter Beliilowers and others. Apples alone did not form the exhibit. There were peaches, pears, plums, apricots, etc., English walnuts, hard and soft shell almonds, and lots of other things that time and space for bid to mention. There has been considerable expuiue attached to the acquiring of the right 01 way, and there will ho other heavy expense incidental to fencing it and putting it in good repair.
