THE BROWN ASSASSINATION Up until the time the last news was received from the out side, the murderers of ex Slieiift' Brown of Baker Ciry, had not been apprehended, and there re mained scant hope of running them down. Thus will another of those dastardly crimes which have disgraced the west in re cent j'ears go unpunished. The murder of ex-Sherifi Brown bears all the eur-marks of a Western Federation crime. The time, just prior to the trial of Pettibone, when a demon stration of the federation's ven geance maT be most effective; the manner, so closely resem bling thatin other crimes laid at their door; the victim, a per fcon who possessed information dangerous to federation offi cials; all stamp it as another dastardly crime to be added to the long list of crimes uncov ered by the Orchard confession. How long is it to go on ? Has it reached a pass where every enemy of the Western Federa tion of Miners is a person marked for deatli at the hands of the hired assassins of that or ganization ? These are the ques tions that men are asking them selves since the Brown murder, .and the answer should be such an uprising against anarchy and assassination that it would mean the extirpation of the Western Federation of Miners, root and branch. ham, of Sis'ers, Oregon Any and all persons claiming adverse ly the above-described lands are re quested to Ole their claims iu this otlice on or before said 13th day of December. 1907 C.
