WATER AT 8 FEET
C. Sothman Struck Bonanza in
Dry Gulch Near pound Butte
The report came In from Round
Butte yesterday that J. C. Sothman lias
Mruck water iu the (.'iiloh just below
hiB house at a depth of eight feet, and
that the supply appears tohesuiTideut
for all ranch purposes. The story Is
brought in by JamesKaap, who helped
fink the well.
Mr. Sothman began binking the
well the iirnt of the week in a dry
gulch on Mie side of Hound Butte,
leading down to Willow Creek. After
working only two days they struck a
stream of water which appears to be
.strong enough to supply plenty of
water. Over two hundred . gallons
were pumped out in the afternoon
after striking the stream, and the
same amount was pumped out next
morning, in addition to the water
pumped for the stock, without empty-j
lug the well. If the flow oj water is
permanent, which it has every indi
cation of being, Mr. Sothmau hai
struck a bouauza.
Mr. Sothman has a tine quarter sec
tlpu on the north slope of Round
Butte. IBs brother has recently come
from Minnesota and settled upon an
adjoining quarter within an uusur
veyed tract, The finding of vater
will greatly increase the value of the
ranches iu that immediate section.
