Dr. V. H. Snook returned Thursday
evening from Shaniko. Mrs. Snook and
their son are visiting the former's mother
in Portland, nnd expect to remain there
several weeks.

Mrs. Lena M. Lamb has been quite
ill during the past week. Last Spring
she had a seven; attack of ptomaine pm
soniu,;, since which time she has nevsi
been quite well. She is much better
today but is still quite ill.
J. N. H. Gerking had a sack of his
fine oats shipped to Boise, Idaho, this
week, to a Mr; Smith. These oats are
for sted nnd were ordered by Mr.
Smith after seeing our exhibit at the
Irrigation Congress. Laidlaw Chronicle.
Charles Bye left yesterday morning for
Portland, from which place he expects to
leave in a few days for Bimidji, Miniie
sola. After, spending some time at
Bimidji, he will visit his old home at
Guelph, Ontniio. He expects to be
absent for about four months.
L. P. Paxton left on Tuesday for The
Dalles, where he goes to make final proof
upon his homestead near Fisherville. Mr.
Paxton does not expect to return to
this locality after making proof, but
will go on to his ohJ home in Clackamas
county, where he expects to spend the
Winter.

Madras school board on next Saturday
evening at 7 o'clock, at the schoolhouse.
