Charles Levin, a prominent stockman of Waco county, was in town yrsterday, on his way to the Cascades,. jfhere he is summering, several bands of sheep. M r. Levin,, who resides in the Antelope neighborhood, has recently disposed of his entire Interests in stock arid land in that locality, and expects to. rettirn to his old homo in .Germany,,. for an extended vacation. He has applied himself very closely to business for a number of years pnst and feels that he is entitled to a long rest. His interests near Antelope were bought by Fred Durbin, who paid in the neighborhood of S20,ooo for them. VV." L. Marquardt, an attorney from Port Angeles, Washington, was in town on last Monday, representing the de fendant in the contest case, of Olive M. Blair vs. Bernard A Marks, the tes timony in which was taken before Max Lueddemann, referee. The contest was based upon the alleged failure of the .defendant lp comply with the law as to rotidencc upon and cultivation and im provement of the tract embraced in his cmry, itnd the questions at issue are about the same as those in a number ol cases heard at this place during the spring. The defendant gave nonce of the filing of a number of depositions, which will be taken later at this place, so that the case will not come Up for final decision for a number of months. Mrs. Louisa J Domini, of CrosvKeys, was examined by Dts. Belknap and lid wards for insanity, last week, and upon their examination has' been adjudged i.isane and committed to the asylum by the county court. Mrs. Douthit, who is quite well known to all of the older resi dents' of the county, lias been in failing health for several years past, and the loss of her mind followed Uosely upon the falluie of her health. She was advan ced in years and owing to this fact it was thought best to commit her fo the insane asylum, where she could have the best of care and attention. Mesdames Irwin and Winslow, two lady attendants at the asylum, came up to take care of their patient, and they left ShanikA with Mrs. Douthit in charge on last Thursday morning, - " t .
