Work May Start at Kin Mine
- Jt is rumored here that the Oregon
ICing mine near Ash wood will be opened
up again within the next few weeks. The
King was shut down about a year ago,
since which time it has been flooded with
water. Several months ago it was pump
ed out in order that an inspection might
be made by experts for the Geiser-Hen-drix
people of Baker County, and it was
reported the mine was about to be sold.
After the workings were inspected, how
' ever, the mine was allowed to fill again,
and the sale was reported to he off. Re
-cently the arrival of several former em
ployes "of the company at ABhwood has
revived the story of a sale of the" mine,
and it is now stated that Uie inine will be
operated in a short time.
The King mine is the best known min
ity property in Crook county, and k is
said to be owe ol the biggest mining prop-
ertiae in the state. J t has beeu .developed
