Ciook County Journal: A petition, praying for the incorporation of 'Madras, wil' be presentee! at thb October term of the circuit couit. The latter place has a population and energy to govern itself and the right tb Ucal rule which will be grant ed wil be added stimulus to the growth of that sec&m of CVoos county. The Haystack postoffice has been dis continued and hereafter the patrons of that ofllcc will be served through the Cujvcr ofltfcc. A petition his been sent in, asking IpV a Uura! Free Delivery from Culver, and as patrons ot the ofllcc ex ceed he number required, it is quite likely that favorable actio'h will be hd prompt ly. An inspector of star routes was in Madras on Tuesday, having come to in spect the newly established route between this place and Heisler and the other star routes leading out of Madras. The contest case oT Morton Doty vs. Frank C. Lucas brought quite a number of witnesses into town on Thursday from the Agency Plains neighborhood, the tak- ing of testimony occupying the entire day. Hie contestant conducted his own case, and the defendant was represented by George Barnes of Prineville. The Lucas entry is being contested on the grounds that misrepresentations were made in the application and allidavit: upon which a leave of absence was granted. A decis ion from the General Land Ofllce will probably not be handed down for several months. mm sHAWKtr.tftte. New Fall and Winter Millinery.
