Mrs. E. R. McGce has given up her Irase on the Hahn hotel, nnd on Tuesday she nnd Iter daughter, Miss Nellie and Frank Hatton who has been living with them, moved out to the McGec homestead northeast of town. Zachary T. McHargue, who owns a homestead about eight miles Southwest of this place, was in town on Tuesday, lie has made arrangements lo spend the winter at Brownsville, and expects to leave for that place in the next few days i Mrs. J. M. Foster arrived here from) I'oitland, the last of the week, to join her husband, who is representing the assignee of the T. J. Mnloy business. Mrs. Foster withernam here for several weeks, while Mr. Foster winds up the Maloy assign mcnt. S. p. Conroy expects to leave tomorrow for The Dalles, to Vmd up thevbusiuess of Conroy & Co. at that place, aft:r which he will go to Portland and San Francisco to buy new goods for lire new store of the Madras Mercanti. & Milling Company, of which he is manager. Frank P-jwel and Mrs. Frank D. Cor nea of Albany are in town, visiting at ihe homeol their sister Mrs. Fred Davis. Mrs. Davis has been very ill for several weeks past, but is on theroad to recovery now, although she is still luite weak from her long seFge of illness. A. C. Sanford, who spent last week looking after business interests here re turned to his home at Shaniko the last of the week. Mr. Sanford expects to return to Madras in Ihe. next few days, nnd will 1. Nyc, one of the best known sheepmen in Crook county, has iild his interem on Dry Creek, to Ike Ward, the consideration being Sa7,ood, Wlie Iran fer Included over 1 00b acres of land 8000 sheep, and all the buildings and camps used in the sheep business. Col. and Mrs. Nye expect to move to North Yakima. Martin T, Pratt, the new postmaster, nas put in a new postoHlce cabinet which will be quite an addition to the Madras ollice, Later on he expects to put in a cabinet of lock boxea. The business ol the ofllce is Increasing so rapidly that a lock box cabinet Is already required, and Mr. Fratt expects to out one In within a few weeks. The new office is located at the McTaggart & Bye ttore. Rev. E. Julius Traglio, pastor of the German church at this place, has been transferred to Richfield, Clark County Washington, about 25 miles from Peru and. .Mr.Traglio's many friends In this vicinity will greatly mis hliVii and their good wishes will follow him to his new charge at Richfield.
