'lhe Tone Proclaiiner of Feb the J7th has a splendid write up of Morrow county. lone is not forgotten iu the arrn' of facts aud figures set forth, which from the general idea we have of that 0 Lcountv aie pretty accurate among the many good things we notice. "A chemical test of a quanit' of Mot row count soil taken from the wheat belt near lone, made by the late Prof. irenry, of the Smithsonian Insti tute of Washington, D. C, re veals the fact that this soil is of the same identical composition as that ot Sicily, or a pure nnqulified volcanic ash, incap able of desiruction, incapable of being sapped of its strenght, incapable of loss of soil force or energj', incapable of being weakened by the crowth of strong crops, or by any continu ous process of single crop production. Sicily has produced wheat for 2000 years, and has never pro duced a heavier crop than thai of 1903. It is simply pulverized and vitalized lava, and is indestructi ble in strength and vitality." The same thing may be said of the soil of the Agency Plains and in fact of all the land tribu tary to Madras, it will be only a very short time until this will be more fully demonstrated. Agency Plains is already noted for its vegtables, corn, and all kinds of cereals. It will soon be famous for its fruit. The citizens of lone are to be 0 concratulated in having pub lished within their midsta news paper that is so up to date, taking advantage of every opportunity in proclaiming to the world the wonderful re sources of the county upon which that city is dependent for its growth and not only the citizens of lone but the settlers tributary thereto are benefited and should rally to its iupport for it is only through efforts such as these, that outside capi tal is brougt in and farm values advanced and the countiy at large benefited. Bud Fields and Ed Maou were over In the Young District Itiht Monday, and while there Mr. Fit-Ids located a well for Jm A. Young, wherein he think a he can reach water at a reason able depth. Being ub.'nt noon time when the locating way rininhed Mea pen Fields aud Muson interviewed the Cook domiciled in the establish ment of one James Barhedge, who furnished entertainment tor the crowd, Mr. Barbedge was absent, but the boys had a pood time anyway and vote the housekeeper of Mr Barbedge a first class cook. J, "W. Jackson, who recently disposed of his butcher business in this city, is now busily en gaged in making improvements on his farm near this city. We are indebted to Miss May Jackson for valuable services rendered in getting out The Pioneer on time this week. Born, February 23, 1909, near Jlay Htuck, to Mr. and Mr. Joe Mendelhall, a cirl. r Some people squander on side issues enough energy to send a through train a long way pn the main track. If a farmer doesn't brag about or tell the cute snyingsof his baby, it's because he husen't a baby. 1 Life's great opportunities are n.eypr labeled. Practice makes perfoct,Not only in stenography aud in piano-playing and in cycling, but in all things, e pecially in morals. We can no more succeed in morald without hard practico than we can in any other sphere of human interests. The pianist who finds a di flic 11 t passage on his keyboard does not skip it, he practices it. J Too often do we skip or slut- over a difficult passage in the life of morals. As a matter of practice, take a single, principle and stick to it tin Id doing right. in that way at leas, becomes. easier. Can you name your own moral principled? Mention one, and get, down, to hard practice on it. Tou will find your moral muscles very flabby at first, and maybe 3011 will be alarmed to see how nearly yon have been verging on moral piostration. But what you need is hard practice ii a particular line and there is. ni time to lose. AGEK0Y PLAIN NOTES. Farmers are becoming somewhat restless owing to I ho uu favorable farm I tier weather.
