Brooks, our local jeweler, is having a new wall case put in his store. Balfour Spiker is in the city from Cileudale, greeting friends. Horace Chicane, assisted by Mr. Hunt and Sanford Stone, brought in a drove of hogs for shipment. The business men's excursion from Portland arrived here in:,'ts Thursday morning and remained one half hour. A Hhort address by Mayor Chenoweth was followed by Mr. Piper in which he complimented us upon the beauty of our little city an l its prominence m the cen ter of the turkey industry of the state. The citizens of Oakland turn, d out in a body and gave our visitors a hearty wel come which we believe was greatly ap preciated.
