Camas Valley Matters Camas Valley is located in the Coast Range of mountains, in the southwest ern part of Douglas County, Oregon. This valley is about seven miles long, and from two to three miles wide, in the widest place. It is surrounded by mountains, from five hundred to one thousand feet above the level of the val ley. The ranges lying to the west are steep, while those to the east have a much more gentle slope. The lower valley ia level bottom land with two streams winding their way through it one in the western edge, while the other Hows through j!..- center. These streams are the head waters of the mid dle fork of the Coquille river. The soil is most all very good, that along the streams being the richest' The soil on the west side of the valley ia not so well adapted to fruit growing us on the coast. The chief timber of this county is llr, pine, cedar and live oak, which is very valuable for furniture. The products are grain of all kinds, fruit, vegetables, lundwr and dairy products. The na turul advantages of this place are groat for sawmill, box factories and sash and door factories. There is also a line loca tion for a flour inilll.
