Frank C. Baker, sends out an argent invitation to the Republicans of Douglas county to attend the meeting of Republicans from all over the state, which is to be held at Portland, Thursday Oct. 12. This will be an interesting occasion and it is to be hoped that Douglas County Republicans will be there in full force. Car Inspector F. F. Patterson and wife have returned from a visit to the fair. Fnroute home they stopped off at Junction and visited at the home of Mrs. Patterson's brother, .George Perrv and family wbo is farming near that city. A great number of railroad boys are taking out hunters license and enjoying a few days spent in the mountains whenever they can lay off from their duty on the road. Samuel Olson and wife, of Lisbon, K. D , are in thie city the guests of Mrs. Olsons' brother, Burt Sperry and wife. Jennings' Bakery has fitted up a nice lunch room. Thayer and Miss Gertrude Bondhill in the leading roles. This play was presented here last season and it ia the opinion of the theater go ers that the company handling the piece this reason ii much inferior to the old company. Wednesday evening "Under Southern Skiee" was presented to a large audieme and thoroughly enjoyed by all. The characters were all wed sustained and Miss Iura Wall as "1-lia Crofton" captured the audience from the start and proved herself a winning little ac tress.
