Howard Ward, of Wardton, ha been suffering for the past two weeks with an abeceea in the right hand. F'riday he came to this city and Dr. E. V. Hoover lanced the hand which was swollen to almost twice its natural si, j, since then under the care of Dr. Hoover the abscess is fast disappearing Rev. M. C. Dayie of Wolf Creek, and Rev. M. C. Munson of this city, left here on Friday morning's local, for Up per Smith River, 25 miles east of Drain on a Missionary trip. Rev. Walter Josephson returned home late Satuidav night from an enjoyable and very successful hunting trip on Fall Creek, above Reel. He made the round trip on his motor bicycle, a distance of '' miles, several miles being over a ; mountain trail on which he was required j to ford Fall Creek many times. He made the trip without accident and killed two or three tine deer. J. C. Aiken and wife, S. C. Flint and wile, Iexter Rice and wife, and Mrs Autenreith, returned from Portland Fri day evening where they have been for tiie past week attending the fair. She wa confirmed in, and joined tha F'piscopal church when young, and throughout a long life wa trne to it religou teach ings. In 1844 at Independence, Mo . she wae united in matriaga to George Hanan, and the froit of tha union was nine children, of which five survive In the same year they were married, Mr. and Mr. Hanan moved to Oregon City, where they resided until 1852 when they came to Douglas County where Mr. Hanan di d in 1876. Fifty years ago churches were few in number and there being no organization of her denomination, Mrs. Hanan united with the Methodist church remaining a member until her death. Before her death she gave assurance that she wae ready to meet her Lord in peace, de parting thie life in Lewieton, Idaho, Aug . Ill, 1905, having attained the age of 82 years 4 months and IB days. Five children, 16 grand-children one grand child a niece and u circle of friends mourn her departure. Interment took place at Wilbur, Aug. 22, 1905, Rev. Renter conducting the ervices. L. B. Moore, local station agent, is au thority for the statement that the re port being circulated as to the number of persons purchasing rate tickets to the Lewi and Clark exposition is false, be ing greatly exaggerated. Mr. Moore states that he is not at lilierty to tell the exact number of tickets sold daring August, as to give out BDJ information along that line is against the company's rnles. The report circulated caused an investigation as to the source' of the in formation, hut as soon as it was dis covered to lie a false report all further investigation ceased. Colonel W. C.
