The meet ing was apparently by accident, jince neither knew of the other's pree ence iu the city. However, it was ar ranged by a son of one of Use brothers, and it was probably the most pie itant surprise" they ever exerienced. The brothers are G. W. Wonacott, of Riddle, I mglas county, this state, and Charles Wonacott, of Tonapab, Nevadi. Both ; have tt-eii successful in businesa affairs ; and are well alvanced ia years. They were born and raised ic Virginia, but moved to Illiuois and were in that state when the civil war broke out. Tbev I were separated by the enlistment of G. W. Wonacott, who joined an Illinois regiment that saw active service during the struggle. However, they met again in 1873 and we e loge.her for a briel time. " ' Mr On was a well known mining man of Coos county and has been trim bled with stomach trouble for 'some yeats. Recently his sicicness became so bad that he wired his brother, E G Cox, of Albany to meet him ut Roseburg Au gust IS. Mr Cox imm'Mliately started by stage for this place but the stage trip was too hard for him and upon ar riving at Sitcum he learned that K N Harry of that place was coming to Rose burg and engaged passage with him. All during the trip Mr Cox suffered con siderable pain and' when within hre miles from Rosehtirtr he fell back in the wagon and breathed hut last. Mr Barry drove with all possible speed to this citv and inforrred the authorities who after an investigation of the affair t timed the remains over to . bis brother, EG Cox, who was in the city.
