General Barlow of the Cnlm. army fell wounded and. lt waa thought, dy ing during the first day of the battle of Gettysburg and within the Confed erate lines. General Gordon, cutiterlug by. Inquired what he could do for him. "I am dying," said Barlow. "Just reach Into my coat pocket, draw out tbe letter you find there and read It to me. It la from my wife." Gordon read the letter.
